Little People causing BIG problems
Anyone who has a toddler knows how hard it is to watch them every minute of every day, they move so quickly! It only takes a few seconds for them to make their way over to the toilet and PLOP! One of their toys is in the bowl and they have hit the flush button. Toys can get lodged in the bend or make their way further into your sewerage pipework. Either way, a plumber must come out and remove it to ensure everything keeps working properly.
Perhaps your child is playing outside and decides your stormwater grate looks like a good place to stuff one of their toys into. This will cause a stormwater blockage and every time it rains, you might be experiencing overflows.
Not surprisingly, a blocked drain is a frustrating situation for any parent or home owner. It generally requires immediate attention from an emergency blocked drain specialist. Different blockages require different tools and attachments to dislodge them and clean the pipes properly.
We have been called out to all sorts of situations where children’s toys have become lodged in the pipework. More recently, we found a ‘Little People’ toy lodged in some pool pipes. The toy had become stuck where the suction line for the creepy crawly was located. This was restricting the amount of water going in which meant the pool was unable to be cleaned properly. A drain camera was used to locate the problem toy and then a drain grab could be used to fish it out.
Toilet clips are a great way to prevent children from placing objects such as their toys into the bowl and pressing down on the flush button. Toilet paper guards are also available to prevent the little one’s from unravelling whole rolls of toilet paper and causing blockages with excess toilet tissue. A couple of small investments which will save you money on plumber call out fees!
