Case Studies – Northern Rivers
THE ISSUE
Our client in the Northern Rivers area was experiencing ongoing blocked drains issues in the new restaurant and female toilets. The female toilets kept blocking up because the existing drainage consisted of old clay pipe. The pipes had a large amount of aggressive tree roots in them due to some large trees over the road and also in the neighbouring property.
Their regular plumber had been called to unblock the drain which was always at peak times and overflowing. For the restaurant management that was a major headache.
HOW WE FIXED IT
After using our CCTV drain camera, we were able to determine that there were two sections of pipe to be relined, one being a junction.
HOW IT HELPED OUR CLIENT
Digging up the pipe to carry out repairs would have required completely stripping out the female toilets, shutting down the male toilets and blocking off access to the restaurant / kitchen for deliveries.
By relining the pipe, it stopped the tree roots growing in through the joints and the blockage problems were fixed in two days. The restaurant was able to keep trading while we carried out our works and only one toilet block was shut down during the process.
THE ISSUE
We were contacted by our client in the Northern Rivers region who was constantly experiencing sewer backups. He had previously spoken to another plumber who had provided him with a quote and options to dig up his problem pipes but decided to reline them instead.
Upon using our CCTV drain camera, we found that the house had been renovated by the previous owner but the old existing earthenware pipes had not been replaced. This resulted in tree entering the leaking rubber joints of the earthenware pipes.
HOW WE FIXED IT
We were able to install reline sleeves over the necessary parts of the straight pipe as well as some of the T-bends. This sealed up the old earthenware pipe joints and prevented the tree roots from growing in and blocking the pipe.
HOW IT HELPED OUR CLIENT
The job was completed over two days to allow our client to use the pipework in the mornings and the evenings. We carried out our works during the day. The option of digging up would have meant renovating the bathroom, cutting up the slab and tunneling under the house quite deep to get to the pipes.
We didn’t even have to go inside the house with any of our equipment to do the work. Our client was extremely happy with the technology and the way the installation went. We finished the job just before Christmas so he was happy not have any blockages over this busy period.
